The strength of the railway industry is also underscored by Austria’s disproportionately high presence and strong export orientation in this attractive field. Thousands of highly qualified and motivated employees are hard at work developing environmentally friendly rail transport solutions that use as few resources as possible. In this, close and active cooperation between industry and rail operators is a key to our success.

Activities of the Association of the Railway Industry

The Association of the Railway Industry is committed to improve the conditions for all modes of rail-bound transport. We force the harmonisation of technical standards and approval procedures. This will increase the efficiency and competitive strength of rail transport. Targeted lobbying and public relations work as well as our commitment to the accelerated modernisation of rail infrastructure, passenger information systems and vehicles all help to improve the image and market position of future-oriented rail systems. The Association of the Railway Industry’s activities extend well beyond Austria’s borders. Therefore we are connected with our European partners through the Association of the European Rail Industry (UNIFE, www.unife.org).
