Education information

This is an induction training programme designed for employees and contractors participating in work activity within the various rail corridors in Australia, to ensure that hazards can be identified and risk reduction strategies put in place to maximize their safety. This program provides a national curriculum for the core elements of Track Safety Induction, so track owners across the country can be satisfied that a person who has completed this program has met the requirements of a common set of standards.

Please note: This is the first of a number of steps a person must take to be able to perform work in a rail environment. Other local inductions may need to be undertaken before work can be commenced, subject to the various track owner or operator requirements.

  • Target Audience: People who are required to perform work in a rail environment including rail employees, contractors and visitors.

  • Category 3 Health Assessment: by an ARTC Authorised Health Professional must be undertaken by all applicants to assess fitness for undertaking rail safety work. This is separate to the training and a completed medical form must be forwarded to Map Training before a card can be issued.
