Strategic Business Development Manager (St. Louis, US)

ABB is seeking a Strategic Business Development Manager. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated professional experience in market research, project management, business analytics, strategic thinking, problem solving, relationship cultivation, executive communications and consensus building. 

Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Identification of target customers and revenue potential by customer
• Assess market factors and trends, customer direction
• Identification of new product and services needs for the stated market and customers. Development of roadmaps with the business segments
• Development of initiatives, specific objectives and plans to support growth in targeted markets
• Focus efforts at particular key accounts/customers to grow ABB Transformer service share with the accounts, in cooperation with sales 
• Presentation of business cases for proposed initiatives supporting the strategic market plan
• Develop data-based market assessments and forecasts as input to the market strategy
• Works directly with the sales teams, the business unit leadership and technical teams to implement the strategy and measure progress 
• Works directly with appropriate personnel to prepare a plan to include target accounts, revenue potential, product development requirements, and other resource requirements
• Work cross-functionality with product development, business operations, finance, sales and marketing teams 
• Seek and create opportunities to expand business with current vendor and clients. Identify further business needs, develop and present solutions


Basic qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree with 12 or more years of business development experience; OR 
• Master's degree with 10 years of experience

Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing with 12 to 16 years of business development experience
• An analytical mindset and ability to think broad and strategically to keep track of the ever-changing competition
• Highly motivated, results-driven with strong technical aptitude, leadership skills and business acumen
• Outgoing and dynamic interpersonal and strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interact with technical and business leaders
• Customer-facing experience (particularly with senior level audiences), and strong experience initiating and fostering relationships with customers
• Proven ability to work across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
• Significant travel is required in order to meet business objectives
