Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Los Angeles, US)

Hyperloop-One is creating a new mode of transportation for the world. The Automation & Manufacturing Division is responsible to build and develop the processes and equipment that will build the Hyperloop. We are seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team of highly qualified, diverse individuals.

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be based at our campus in Los Angeles, CA. You will be working with a talented and dynamic group of engineers on a variety of research and development projects that pertain to building the Hyperloop and making it manufacturable and affordable. We are looking for someone who is intensely collaborative and passionate about the success of our product.

Responsibilities

  • Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with design engineers and equipment vendors.
  • Evaluate, create and improve manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
  • Produce expert Design for Manufacturing feedback to design teams.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Complete design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
  • Cultivate and manage external suppliers of machinery, processes. process equipment and piece parts.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 6 years of complex manufacturing development experience.
  • Keen knowledge of a range of manufacturing processes such as machining and fabrication, high speed forming and stamping, molding, laminating, coating, and associated knowledge of elements such as large steel structures, electromechanical assemblies, motors and controls equipment.
  • Associated knowledge of tooling, assembly processes and automation.
  • Proficient in utilizing CAD systems.
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
