As a the Principal Radio Frequency and Electrical Design Engineer, you are responsible for the architecture, design, development and testing of rugged, industrial computer solutions with significant Radio Frequency (RF) content. You will be responsible for specification reviews, product development timelines and reports, make or buy decisions, and managing the web of connectivity for products. Your role is integral to the dynamic growth of impact on the transportation industry.
What you'll be doing:
Identifying and presenting new technologies/trends, assess the implications, opportunities and risks of bring the technology to Trapeze.
Assisting in defining, scoping and implementing designs leveraging modern networking concepts and technologies.
Providing the technical guidance, test development and implementation approaches for always connected devices.
Leading all facets of new product development from definition of the new product architecture, design, development, test, support, and service.
Dissecting problems to identify root cause of issues.
Providing detailed schedules, task identification and sequencing, test plans, and documentation necessary to yield high quality products that meet the customer needs.
Helping increase the technical capability and understanding of the team by mentoring, delegation, lessons learned and design review/oversight.
Communicating with a variety of internal roles and external customers to explain technologies and answer questions in non-technical terms.
What you'll bring to the team:
A BSEE with >10 years of related experience in developing mobile computer systems running Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
Digital and analog embedded system design experience with an excellent understanding of Experience in Microcontroller and FPGA development environments.
Experience with many standards based communications environments - RS232, J1708, SAE J1939, CAN, USB, Ethernet, Bluetooth, 802.11, Cellular, GPS.
Expertise in design to meet environmental testing requirements including FCC part 15, SAE J1113, SAE J1455, EN 50155, EN 50121, DFM and DFT concepts.
