Product Manager (Cedar Rapids, US)

Job Summary:

The Product Manager, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) is an experienced professional with an understanding of Public Transit industry best practices, principles and theories. The role needs to effectively manage the ITS products and tools within the Trapeze Enterprise suite of solutions. This includes setting a strategic direction for the products and tools, executing on that strategy and ensuring robust solutions are designed and developed.

Job Description:

 The ITS Product Manager is ultimately responsible to ensure the on-time delivery of their respective solutions with quality built-in and a high-level of customer satisfaction while meeting agreed financial targets.  In addition, the ITS Product Manager is expected to engage directly with customers and ensure a strong connection exists between the customers’ business objectives and the respective solutions we provide.

On a daily basis, you will

  • Develop product positioning and messaging that differentiates ITS products in the marketplace
  • Define the vision and strategic objectives for the ITS products and tools and ensure that this strategy is executed effectively
  • Clearly document and communicate the ITS product set value proposition and develop tools that support the process of selling
  • Plan the launch of new products and releases and manage the cross-functional implementation of the plan
  • Be the expert on your buyers, how they buy and their buying criteria; be the expert on your competition and how to outperform them
  • Achieve agreed financial targets & operational metrics (e.g. Revenue, R&D Ratio, development completion, quality, etc.)
  • Contribute to and execute upon a multi-year product roadmap that goes far beyond today’s product portfolio
  • Achieve short-term product design/development goals while balancing and advancing medium/longer term goals
  • Collaborate with Product Directors/Managers of adjacent solutions with a strong team-focused approach to achieving a high-level of customer satisfaction
  • Proactively anticipate any risks and issues that may arise during the delivery of the strategic initiatives and ensure that appropriate mitigation actions are taken
  • Promote continuous improvement in technology delivery processes to drive overall improvements in quality and performance

The Expertise You Bring

  • Degree/Diploma in Computer Science or another technical discipline

    3-5 years of experience in Software Product Management
  • Experience with personally performing implementation activities on large scale technology projects (min 1 million)
  • 5+ years of experience in ITS solution development or implementation

  • Must be able to handle an escalated situation independently without the support of management

  • Extensive travel is required up to 50% within North America
