TransPennine Express receives international accreditation

Man and woman holding certification on train platform

TransPennine Express (TPE) has become the first train operating company in the country to receive a prestigious international accreditation for how it manages its railway stations.

The impressive, ISO55001 certification was presented by the British Standards Institution (BSI) and demonstrates TPE’s commitment to provide the best possible experience for customers.

The franchise began on 1st April 2016, meaning the accolade has been granted following just eleven months of operation.

TPE manages 19 stations across the North which are; Barnetby, Brough, Cleethorpes, Dewsbury, Grimsby, Huddersfield, Hull, Manchester Airport, Malton, Middlesbrough, Northallerton, Scarborough, Scunthorpe, Seamer, Selby, Stalybridge, Thirsk, Thornaby and Yarm.

The ISO 55001 is an international standard for asset management recognising organisations that can demonstrate they have effective systems and processes in place to deliver high levels of asset performance for customers and stakeholders.

Louise Ebbs, Director of Strategy for TransPennine Express commented: “We are thrilled to have received this award. This is a major achievement made possible by the efforts of the whole business and it’s fantastic that we are the first train company in the country to be accredited by BSI for ISO55001.

“Our stations are the gateways to travel in the North and are often the first contact our customers have with us. It’s therefore vitally important that we manage these assets effectively to ensure they meet customers’ expectations and allow us to deliver a great customer experience.”

TPE has a commitment to support the communities it serves and will be investing £18 million in stations over the life of the franchise.
