APTA Acting President & CEO Richard A. White.
“On behalf of the more than 1,500 member organizations of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), we are encouraged by the introduction of the “Blueprint to Rebuild America’s Infrastructure” proposal by Democratic Leader Charles Schumer, along with Senators Carper, Brown, Leahy, Sanders and Nelson, which lays out a proposal for significant new investments in the nation’s infrastructure. As sought by APTA’s Board of Directors, the plan makes a substantial commitment to the nation’s public transportation and intercity passenger rail systems.
APTA is encouraged that lawmakers on both sides of the aisle recognize the need to invest in our public transportation infrastructure. Enacting meaningful legislation to address our infrastructure needs will require support from the President and a bipartisan majority in Congress, and we look forward to reviewing additional proposals as this process continues.”
