Job Summary

AECOM's Transport Team in Perth is looking for a highly motivated Senior Roads/Highways Engineer to utilise their strong technical, project management and site superintendence skills to manage and deliver infrastructure projects from our growing Perth office.

This role will give you the opportunity to work as part of a high performing team, with guidance and mentoring from a team of technical specialists. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, this role will see you working with the well-established Transport Group in Perth, whilst also giving you access to experts across the region.

Your ability to build meaningful relationships and your strong focus on client-service will enable you to deliver above expected outcomes and continue to raise AECOM's profile in Perth.

In this role you will primarily assist with the delivery of roads and highways engineering projects for our Transportation Team.

While your main duties will be technical work, you will also be required to undertake client liaison, work package scoping, preparing costs estimates, negotiating variations, technical supervision and mentoring of work package teams, and cost and schedule monitoring to deliver bridge engineering work packages.

The position requires the ability to provide leadership and mentoring to small and medium sized design teams in development of concept and detailed designs of roads/highway. Design will often be carried out in close collaboration with design teams from other disciplines and will often involve client liaison.

Key responsibilities:

  • Timely execution of design packages, working within project time frames and the requirements of approval processes.

  • The ability to introduce innovative ideas.

  • Compliance with relevant codes and standards.

  • Actively participate in and contribute to the technical aspects of projects to achieve design objectives.

  • Successfully manage small to medium sized projects.

  • Identify and escalate issues or problems where appropriate.

  • Manage risks associated with project delivery

  • Client satisfaction (clients, government departments, contractors).

  • Assist the Team Leader - Highways to deliver the growth, diversification and stability targets set out in the business group budget.

Minimum Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in road/highways design, including concept and detailed design, and review/verification

  • Civil engineering degree or equivalent

  • Minimum 7 years in road design.

  • Exposure to Autocad, 12D and MX design packages

  • Familiarity with Main Roads WA requirements

  • Successful track record leading small and medium sized projects

  • Communication skills – writes clear and succinct messages; communicates with passion and conviction and can influence others; is an attentive and active listener; able to communicate at all levels.

  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, and ability to develop a client base.

  • Knowledge of the market for consulting services.

  • High level of general computer skills, e.g. Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, or/and other project management applications, Microsoft Word and Power Point.
