Job Summary

Ballard has an opportunity for a temporary full-time Human Resources Coordinator in our Human Resources department for 12- 14 months as a maternity leave backfill. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to apply and grow their HR knowledge and experience.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, detail-oriented and energetic professional who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, deadline driven, team environment. The HR Coordinator will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:


  • Gathering and managing employee data, including conducting analysis, and preparing reports (e.g. HR Monthly Reporting, Employee Survey, Performance Management Process and Annual Compensation Planning Process)
  • Coordinating onsite training and administering training records in ADP
  • Coordinating new employee information and documentation
  • Responding to employee requests and resolving or routing appropriately
  • Assisting with recruitment, including posting on job boards and administering the applicant tracking system
  • Preparing correspondence, presentations and materials as required (transcribing, typing, proofreading, etc)
  • Maintaining confidential files, records and databases related to Human Resources
  • Maintaining and updating HR forms
  • Preparing expense reports, processing purchase orders and invoices
  • Updating and maintaining the HR section of Ballard’s intranet site
  • Coordinating employee events and participating in special projects as required


  • Human Resources Diploma or related degree with 2-3 years HR Coordinator/Generalist experience
  • Advanced computer and technical skills in all aspects of MS Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Working knowledge of HR programs and policies
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity in all aspects of work
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (oral and written)
  • High level of attention-to-detail, ability to prioritize and adapt to changing demands
  • Superior employee relations skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a dynamic team of professionals in an ever-changing, fast paced, customer focused environment
  • Ability to take initiative, be responsive, professional and a great team player
  • Experience with electronic surveys an asset
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
