About the Role

The Payroll Manager processes payroll as well as oversees all activities associated with payroll administration.  You’ll have a variety of other associated activities including working with external auditors, state and federal agencies as well as your fellow Passport team members.  The majority of your time will be devoted to planning, preparing and processing payroll.  


  • Serve as subject matter expert in Payroll 
  • Oversees multi-state current, arrears, and bi-weekly process for 300+ employees while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of processing to include any garnishments, relocations, bonuses and any other miscellaneous payments or deductions
  • Create and run Off-cycle payroll runs as needed
  • Update payroll system by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions,  and wage and tax adjustments as needed
  • Ensures all payroll information and records are maintained in accordance with statutory requirementsReview and ensure compliance for any employees working under a prevailing wage requirement
  • Manages time and attendance system. Investigates any discrepancies, troubleshoot issues; pull hours for upload into payroll system and be the point person for all Time & Attendance questions
  • Maintain, and audit policies and procedures to reflect changes in state and federal laws as they relate to payroll processing
  • Ensure accurate setup and remittance of payroll taxes to applicable states
  • Prepare reports: These reports may include, but are not limited to, overtime reports, hours-worked reports, PTO, Sick leave, and more 
  • Confirm all on and off-cycle payrolls and ensure deposit files are processed within the required timeframes
  • Compile new hire data and audit against payroll system to ensure correct and complete payroll processing
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and Accounting teams
  • Implement the payroll module of a new HRIS system and lead the integration of payroll processes from acquired companies
  • Resolve payroll tax related issues and handle notices from various tax jurisdictions


  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred 
  • 5 years or more processing payroll in business with 50+ employees
  • Good communication skills
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) a plus
  • Experience processing payroll in Zenefits a plus
