Software Engineer Team Lead, Micromobility (Charlotte, US)

About the Role

As the Team Lead on an agile software engineering team you will be responsible for end-to-end execution and delivery of a software solution.  This is a critical role in the organization and is considered to be “the quarterback of the engineering team”. You will be responsible for looking at the project / feature as a whole and ensuring that all functional and non-functional requirements are met.  You will work closely with your Director of Engineering to set strategic application architecture vision and execute against this vision. You will also partner closely with product management, business analysts, and the product owners to understand requirements and break down the work in a meaningful way for the development team.  Finally, you will be leading a team of 3-6 engineers and expected to be doing some hands on coding as well.  


  • Execution and delivery of software development projects in an agile environment. Includes collaborating with business analysts, product, and other stakeholders on agile ceremonies. 
  • Technical leadership and mentoring.  Working closely with the developers to provide direction on design and approach to solutions.
  • Understanding the overall scope of the project or feature and the various technical requirements required for implementation
  • Ensure that team members are following code quality standards and best practices.
  • Provides guidance on career growth, mentors, and helps establish OKR definition for team members.
  • Performs design reviews, ensuring adherence to standards within all solutions
  • Performs code reviews, ensuring adherence to standards.
  • Provides accurate estimates on features, stories, and tasks. Coaches team members on estimation activities and best practices.
  • Delivers features (as an individual contributor). Should spend approximately 25-50% of their time in the code.
  • Responds to production-related inquiries or issues.


  • Experience designing, building and maintaining web applications
  • 5+ years in an agile development environment
  • Experience leading a team of engineers on a software delivery team
  • Proven technical leadership experience across related technologies and patterns (for example: JavaScript/Node.js, LAMP, Microservices, Python, NoSql/BigData/DynamoDB, SOA, Swift, or Kotlin)
  • Experience with system-to-system integration and Enterprise Integration Patterns.
  • Strong understanding of database concepts and strong SQL skills.
  • Ability to reverse engineer system requirements based on existing systems and architectures
  • Application level architecture or solution level architecture experience
  • Experience documenting high level solution architecture, low level application architecture, sequence diagrams, data flow processes, etc.
  • Strong understanding of performance testing and capacity management concepts. 
  • Ability to build out working proof of concepts in order to demonstrate and prove out design recommendations.
  • Experience working with and designing a micro-service architecture is preferred.
