Strategic Business Development Manager (Charlotte, US)

About the Role

As a business development manager  at Passport, you will be responsible for building and maintaining multiple strategic partnerships across a variety of vertical.  You will own the development and execution of strategic product partnerships that have a direct impact on revenue generation. You'll ensure customer and client feedback, market intelligence, and institutional knowledge are analyzed and infused into your partnership roadmap. You will partner closely with a variety of stakeholders across engineering, sales, and service delivery to execute against that strategy.  You will be instrumental in helping Passport grow revenue through your efforts.

You will have the opportunity to wear several hats, and you should be comfortable learning new things and taking on new responsibilities. You should be ok with change and autonomy.  If you like structure, this is not the job for you. You should enjoy the ambiguity and love to think of creative ways to get a deal done. 


  • Evaluate partnership and sales enablement opportunities and build business cases to support recommendations and prioritize these opportunities
  • Create and manage multiple stakeholders (Sales, Product, Legal, Finance, etc.)
  • Is a simplifier of issues, problems, finds solutions
  • Build and negotiate commercial agreements with large multinational organizations 
  • Assess and partner with cross functional teams to enable successful partnership execution ( Finance, Product, Legal, Engineering, etc.); build champions of each function
  • Anticipate issues and respond to changes with agility, based on experience, to drive impact
  • Passionate about rolling up your sleeves to solve any issue, alongside your team
  • Succinctly communicate with all stakeholders, including executive level
  • Simplify and execute processes that drive replication at scale
  • Be a strong leader - engaging and a developer of others


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience, MBA preferred
  • Have executed large national and multinational partnership agreements preferred
  • 3 years required, 5+ years preferred experience in a combination of strategic consulting, venture capital, business development, business operations
  • Proven track record of business impact; delivering on complex, high-visibility, cross-functional projects on a global scale
  • Proven record of leading performance-driven strategy and operational teams
  • Proven ability to track, prioritize, and drive multiple concurrent projects to success. This position is expected to utilize data and metrics to communicate needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence people at all levels across a broad variety of job functions (Sales, Product, Legal, Finance, etc.)
  • Travel likely required
