The Senior Financial Analyst of Trapeze will have a solid grounding in audit, accounting, finance, and general business, with superior analytical skills, strong work ethic, good interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of success. The role requires a self-starter who is comfortable working at all levels of the organization, and with limited direct management oversight. This role reports to the Vice President of Finance.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Approx. 35-40% of the role is monthly, quarterly, and year end Financial Reporting and Analysis related activities:
Preparation and analysis of various monthly reporting packages, including Actual vs. Forecast Results, Monthly Analytics, and Working Capital analysis.
Preparation and analysis of additional reporting as part of quarterly reporting packages, including Notes Disclosures, Financial Checklists, WIP Aging and Provision Reporting.
Reviewing and analyzing divisional and consolidated annual, quarterly and monthly results.
Detailed financial analysis, especially the investigation of significant variances.
Creation of the quarterly Maintenance Forecast (covering approx. 60% of total company revenue).
Consolidation and review and analysis of the overall quarterly forecast.
Creation of a cash flow forecast on a quarterly basis for parent company.
Leading internal and external audits; being the “point person” for audit requests; consolidating and reviewing support and data provided by finance.
Approx. 35-40% of the role is accounting/finance support activities:
Maintain and improve appropriate internal control framework for the entire organization.
Assessing and recommending appropriate accounting treatments on complex issues, such as IFRS 15, IFRS 16, long term financing arrangements, hardware leasing.
Completion of revenue recognition analysis for significant new contracts for parent company and external auditors.
Provide guidance to the project accounting team on audit and closure of completed projects.
Support the business and finance team on intercompany accounting and arrangements.
Become an expert on the company’s financial reporting tool, BPC, account reconciliation tool, BlackLine, and project management tool, NetSuite OpenAir. Become knowledgeable on the company’s ERP system, Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, and sales tool, SalesForce.
Approx. 20-30% of the role is general business support activities and ad hoc items:
Lead biweekly aged AR meetings with the business.
Lead monthly aged WIP meetings with the business.
Involvement in strategy meetings, results calls, and management discussions for the businesses.
The business is growing and changing in ways that require this role to be a partner with various aspects of the business, providing insight and guidance regarding reporting functionality/changes, accounting guidance, etc.
Accounting designation: CPA / CA / CGA / CMA
Experience working at a large public accounting firm considered an asset.
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices and applications under IFRS. Knowledge of IFRS 15 and 16 an asset.
4-5 years in finance and accounting, with experience in a technology-based environment.
Advanced knowledge of Excel is required.
North American travel will be required (up to 20%).
