The Systems Engineer’s role is primarily responsible for the deployment, ongoing maintenance and operational management of the various infrastructure technologies deployed both on premise and at a world-class data center. A successful candidate in this position is responsible for resolving escalated service issues, coaching other engineers to resolutions, engineering, implementing and documenting complex projects, and for maintaining and overseeing the technology of the Trapeze infrastructure. This role is a key position within the IT Team and will be called upon to resolve the highest-level technical issues.
DUTIES and responsibilities
Implement, manage and support, but not limited to the following technologies:

Remote Desktop Services
Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, SNMP and SMTP
Virtualized Platforms – VMware vSAN Hyper-Converged on Dell PowerEdge Server
Enterprise Storage - Dell SAN
Veeam backup and recovery
Managing and maintaining VMware vSAN
Maintaining and administration of internal IT Servers and IT Services (Windows Server environment, LAN, Cisco Network, VPN, etc).
Collaborate with other IT and operational staff to ensure database integrity, security, and ongoing performance.
Ensure that hardware is adequately sized and configured; conduct capacity planning scenarios to meet future needs.
Actively monitor the ticketing system and provide expert support for 2nd and/or 3rd level support.
Managing competing priorities so that any critical issues are addressed promptly thereby reducing inconvenience caused to users.
Coordinate with vendors, external partners to ensure information systems meet the organization's needs.
Monitor, manage, and resolve daily system monitoring, verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems.
Ability to monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve enterprise infrastructure issues as they arise.
Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades and resource optimization.
Ensure smooth and continuous operation of system performance and availability of our internal technology environment.
Performing disaster recovery operations and data backups when required.
Develop and use scripting technologies (Ie. Powershell) for automation, deployment, operations, and management of systems.
Research, test and integrate technologies into the existing infrastructure to support that business requirement.
Rollout approved technical solutions in the data center and across the environment. This includes all documentation, planning, scheduling, risk management plans, thorough testing, clear and timely communication to all stakeholders, testing and signoffs.
Test and install patches, firmware updates in conjunction with software providers and vendors or other third parties.
Establish and maintain documentation and standards. Understand and maintain service management strategies that align with the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework.
Work closely with other IT support and data security members and follow internal data security guidelines to protect data, software, and hardware.
Research and recommend new technology to maximize Return on Investment (ROI) based on the departmental and organizational goals and objectives.
Participate in the impact assessment, business case preparation and selection of tools and devices that will improve our ability to effectively maintain, monitor and troubleshoot IT Servers, Services and Network Equipment.
Other duties or projects assigned by the Manager.
Some travel is required.
