r2p – Rail and Road Protec GmbH has its headquarters in Northern Germany, close to the Danish border. We develop and sell intelligent technology systems for the mobile sector with highest quality standards: CCTV, passenger counting, Infotainment and fleet management with real-time data transfer for rail and road vehicles. Through our idea our customers need only little hardware for an optimized solution, which is economical and ecologically beneficial at the same time.

Our closeness to the Scandinavia is also reflected in our committed German-Danish team. We are passionate about our work. Our goal is to capture the international market with our core competences mobile CCTV and telematics, backed up by our Swedish investors, the Alder AB, who have an overall investment potential of 110 million Euro. In the railway sector alone, the Alder Group - together with r2p - has an annual turnover of 55 million Euro.

Rail Systems

R2P gets your investment rolling. In our practice-orientated system solutions for railway vehicles, we place particular importance on the individual requirements of our customers: Forward Facing (route monitoring), Pantograph CCTV and Driver-Only- Operation (DOO) are the key benefits of our video system. Through the combination with other systems, our customers receive a strong complete solution.

Mobile CCTV Train

Both the function and design of the R2P video system are tailored to the high requirements in the rail sector. The combination of analogue and digital cameras increases the flexibility and therefore reduces costs. It is even possible to couple multiple carriages one after the other thanks to the innovative encoder, as it converts analogue image signals to digital image signals and transmits them to the central recorder via the train’s internal network. Only one device is required, where previously a separate recorder was needed per carriage. The number of cameras can be reduced due to the high-resolution digital technology.

Passenger Counting

Overcrowded or empty vehicles will soon be a thing of the past with the R2P video passenger counting system. Optimize your route planning with regard to economy and appeal.

Our 3D technology shows passenger numbers reliably and is not distorted by light or weather influences. It also rules out including items of luggage in the count. The R2P system therefore delivers the exact values, which can be analyzed with an internal software.

The passenger counting system also includes the option of connecting video cameras and recording image data. This also provides the option of evaluating and optimizing passenger numbers.

Fleet & Data Management

In the R2P fleet management system, the threads of all components are compiled to an informative database. Evaluate the live data of all your vehicles in real time, collect information and intervene directly if a problem occurs.

The fleet management functions include video and ECO-Management, GPS fleet tracking and monitoring the vehicle parameters via CAN bus. Connecting alcohol immobilizers (alcometers) to the fleet management system also means that an alarm is generated if the equipment is manipulated.

You can plan everything together with foresight, which saves lots of time and costs.

DOO - Driver Only Operation

In practice, the driver usually bears sole responsibility for ensuring safety when entering and leaving platforms and stops. State-of-the-art camera technology from R2P offers excellent added value in this area: Thanks to this technology, the driver receives a quick and direct overview of the boarding and disembarking area.

Even before the train starts moving, the driver will be able to verify that no passengers are located in the door area. The DOO system therefore enables one-man control of the vehicles and increases the efficiency of route planning through the recording.

Pantograph CCTV & Forward Facing

The Forward-Facing camera is installed on the front of the vehicle. It’s recordings provide information on what has happened in the field of view of the driver. Thermal cameras can be optionally integrated, which help identify dangers even in complete darkness.

Whether it’s passing through red lights or determining the cause of near and actual accidents – Forward Facing provides clear evidence. It also detects unauthorized presence on or crossing over the tracks, identifies stone throwers, train surfers, graffiti sprayer or obstructions.

The pantograph camera serves the same function: Day and night, the camera documents any faults or wear on overhead wires or current collectors or whether damage has occurred during travel.

Alcometer

Anyone whose task it is to get hundreds of people to their destination every day needs a clear head.

The alcometer, an electronic immobilizer, can be used to check the alcohol level on the driver’s breath – for the safety of the driver and passengers, as well as other road users. A convenient breath test completed in seconds checks whether there is still alcohol remaining in the blood. The engine only fires up if the result comes back negative.

The operator therefore has an effective and simple process for avoiding accidents due to alcohol consumption. Because, if anything happens, the operator carries the full responsibility according to the law and can be held liable.

ECO-Performer

Would you believe that an ECO-display (Driver Awareness Panel) can save between 12 and 15 % in diesel consumption?

With this box, the R2P ECO-Performer provides the driver with feedback on his driving behaviour. Abrupt braking or powerful acceleration are punished with a red light, driving with foresight is “rewarded”.

The direct feedback provides a training effect. An additional online ranking – either anonymous or named – also provides incentive to take the foot of the pedal.
