Locomote

Locomote is a special product line designed to meet specific safety needs for remote control of locomotives.

Improved work environment

Switching freight cars in a shunting yard is risky, and misunderstandings can occur between switchers, shunting inspectors, and locomotive drivers. Remote control significantly increases safety because the same person driving the locomotive does the switching. If the shunting yard has a switching tower, remote control can also be done from there.

Remote control streamlines work in the shunting yards and makes the operators’ workplace much safer. One of Locomote’s unique functions is the tilt switch on the transmitter, which automatically stops the locomotive if the operator happens to stumble.

Flexible, protected linking

Transmitters and receivers are automatically linked using a special coding procedure. This means that the operator easily can take command of the locomotive. And managing transmitters in several shunting yards becomes more flexible—without sacrificing safety.

High safety level

We applied extra stringent safety standards when we designed Locomote for public locomotive remote control. Locomote 100 is approved according to the European standard Cenelec EN 50239. For radio transmission, we comply at the SIL 3 level.
