Corporate Counsel (Charlotte, US)

Corporate Counsel (Charlotte, US)

About the Role

The Corporate Counsel position will be an integral part of Passport's growing team, joining a fast-paced and exciting environment. The Corporate Counsel will be involved in all activities that drive revenue growth at Passport, a critical role and set of responsibilities given Passport’s ambitious growth targets for this year and beyond. This role will provide the opportunity to support mission-critical activities in a sophisticated, high-growth environment and to interface directly with the company's senior management, including the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Revenue Officer.

Responsibilities

The person in this role will coordinate on a daily basis with functional leaders or individual contributors in Passport’s revenue organization (Capture Strategy, Sales, and Client Success teams), and sit at the midpoint of the sales cycle to coordinate the negotiation and execution of complex contracts facilitating the delivery of sales wins into the implementation pipeline and ultimately revenue generation.  This will include responsibility over SaaS sales contracts of all sizes, as well as contracts that support revenue operations such as those involving prime contractors, subcontractors, service providers, and sales channel partners.

About You

You will be a perfect fit for this role if you have the following qualities in abundance:

  • Patience
  • Flexibility
  • Comfort with fast pace, high volume, and real-time triaging
  • A desire to take an educator and mentor approach to colleagues, some of whom don’t have many years of professional experience and/or familiarity with complex legal terms
  • Appreciation for how bookings and sales drive overall company metrics and, ultimately, enterprise value
  • Enthusiasm to work in a small legal team committed to achieving best-in-class status and doing everything it takes to support the business
  • An appreciation for our company principles
  • A commitment to giving back to the community

Additionally, you will not be content simply to follow directions; you are inquisitive and proactive and you seek to improve the work of the Legal department and the overall business. You set the bar high with your daily work product and consistently hold yourself to that standard. You do your best work when you have autonomy and ownership of a project or task, but don't hesitate to seek direction when you're at a crossroads or in unfamiliar territory. You exercise good judgment. You have a knack for continuous improvement and for figuring out the scalable and sustainable solution. You thrive in a constantly changing, fast-paced environment. You balance short- and long-term objectives. You multitask complex projects while also firefighting time-sensitive matters. You communicate clearly and concisely. You embrace a challenge. You are content to work through ambiguity or uncertainty. You recognize the service-oriented nature of your work and consistently bring a positive, can-do attitude to your work.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited institution
  • Active bar license (preference for North Carolina)

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Self-starter with strong desire to learn and develop professionally
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Able to “own” projects through to completion in a timely manner with minimal supervision
  • Commitment to exceptional client service (both internal and external clients)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a high-growth company (preferably SaaS industry)
  • Experience with government procurement procedures
  • Familiarity/proficiency with contract lifecycle management software, matter management software, and e-signature software
  • Experience negotiating procurement contracts of all types and SaaS sales contracts
