Indra has signed a contract to renew the air traffic automation systems for three air control centers of the air navigation services provider AirNav Indonesia. With this contract, Indra consolidates its position as the main technology provider of air traffic management systems in these islands.

The company will implement its systems at the control centers of Palembang and Pekanbaru, in Sumatra, and Tanjung Pinang, in the Riau islands. This technology will improve security and facilitate the management of a greater number of flights. Indra is a leader in air traffic management systems worldwide, and has implemented its solutions in more than 160 countries.

This new contract arrives just after Indra has modernized in recent years the Jayapura control center, at the Sentani International Airport, which manages flights in all of New Guinea; the Medan control center in Juala Namu, which controls all of the air traffic of the island of Sumatra, and the Berau control center, which manages traffic in Borneo.

Furthermore, Indra has rolled out a network of radars to cover approximately 70% of the country's airspace surveillance. Its precision and capacity for aircraft identification entail a qualitative leap in air traffic management in one of the world's most populated countries and which is highly dependent on air transport for connecting its over 17,000 islands.

Among the radars most recently commissioned, is worth highlighting the one at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, the most important of Indonesia, receiving 55 million passengers each year. It has also recently launched secondary radars at the International Airports of Yogyakarta, Pekanbaru and Padang. The deployment of all of these surveillance systems is framed within the modernization plan driven by AirNav Indonesia, and in which Indra has been working since a decade ago.

Leadership position in Asia-Pacific

In addition, Indra works on the technological modernization of other Indonesian infrastructures. It has implemented its Open SGC system for the public electricity company PLN, and has modernized road traffic control management in Jakarta and Surabaya. Likewise, it performs the maintenance of the A7P and C235 flight simulators.

In the rest of the Asia-Pacific region, Indra's leadership is growing as a supplier of air traffic systems. Given their size, some projects worth highlighting include those completed in China, where it has deployed a network of fifty radars that manage 60% of the county's air space and has equipped the Chengdu and Xian control centers with air traffic management systems that cover an area of 4.2 million km2. Also in China, in recent years it has deployed over 900 radio assistance systems to support landings at its airports and guide aircraft en-route.

Another emblematic project recently implemented in the region has been the deployment in South Korea of radars to reinforce security and surveillance of the busiest air traffic corridor in the world, between Jeju and Seoul, used by more than 10 million passengers each year.

Furthermore, the company has assumed the modernization of air traffic management in countries like Mongolia and Vietnam. It has also implemented its systems in Philippines, and is an important technology supplier in Australia.
