The outstanding design of the newly opened Guangzhou - Shenzhen - Hong Kong Express Rail Link (Hong Kong Section) has been honoured with Gold Awards in the Community - Service category at both the 2018 Hong Kong Design Awards as well as the international 2018 GOV Design Awards. Both awards recognise the MTR Corporation for the successful delivery of the rail project, which is commissioned by the Hong Kong SAR Government, and its service commencement.
Connecting Hong Kong to the over 25,000 km National High Speed Rail Network, the new High Speed Rail service enhances travelling comfort and convenience and will create tremendous new opportunities for economic development. The spacious and stylishly designed Hong Kong West Kowloon Station provides a wide range of services to cater for the needs of passengers, and different facilities are also offered on board the Vibrant Express high-speed trains operated by MTR for services to Shenzhen and Guangzhou.
“The Express Rail Link is the largest infrastructure project delivered by the Corporation in Hong Kong in the past 20 years. We have been working closely with relevant bureaux and departments in the Hong Kong SAR Government in delivering this landmark project and we are very proud to see that our efforts and achievement are recognised. We will continue to focus on ensuring that High Speed Rail delivers the best services for the people of Hong Kong and visitors from the Mainland of China and around the world,” said Mr Lincoln Leong, CEO of MTR Corporation.
The Hong Kong Design Awards and GOV Design Awards are organised by DRIVENxDESIGN, and the judging panels include leading design professionals from major studios and industry bodies as well as design commissioners.
