According to the latest figures, in April 2018 92.8 million passengers were transported on the infrastructure owned by Russian Railways, 3.7% more than in the same month last year. Suburban passenger numbers amounted to 84.8 million, an increase of 3.1%, while long-distance passengers were up 11.1% to 8 million.
Passenger turnover in April 2018 was 8.6 billion passenger-kilometres, 3.5% more than during the same month in 2017. Suburban passenger turnover amounted to 2.6 billion passenger-km, a rise of 3.1%, while passenger turnover on long-distance services rose to 6 billion passenger-km, an increase of 3.7%.
In January-April, 2018, 343.2 million passengers travelled, 2.9% compared to January-April 2017. Long-distance passenger numbers were up 9% to 30 million, while suburban passengers amount to 313.2 million, an increase of 2.3%.
Passenger turnover on the network of Russian Railways since the beginning of 2018 increased by 4% to the level of the previous year and amounted to 32.6 billion pass-km. Suburban passenger turnover during January to April amounted to 9.5 billion pass-km, an increase of 1.4%, while long-distance passenger turnover rose to 23 billion pass-km, a rise of 5.1%.
In April 2018, the Moscow Central Ring (MCR) carried over 10.7 million passengers, 22.5% more than during April 2017. In total, almost 177 million passengers have travelled on MCR services. The Moscow Central Ring recorded its highest number of passengers since its opening on 10 September 2016 on 12 April 2018, when it carried 444,500 people.
