Passengers on Russian Railway's network increased 3% in Feb 2019

According to the latest figures, the network owned by OJSC Russian Railways transported more than 83.1 million passengers in February 2019, 3% more than in February 2018. Suburban passenger numbers amounted to 76.5 million, an increase of 2.8%, while long-distance passengers were up 5.8% to 6.6 million.

Passenger turnover in February 2019 was 7.1 billion passenger-kilometres, 2.4% more than in the same month in 2018. Suburban passenger turnover rose to 2.3 billion passenger-kilometres, an increase of 2%, while long-distance passenger turnover was up to 4.8 billion pass-km, a rise of 2.6%.

A total of 167 million passengers were transported during January and February 2019, up by 3.2% compared to January and February 2018. Long-distance passengers amounted to 15.2 million, a rise of 5.2%, while suburban passenger numbers 151.8 million were carried, up 3%.

Passenger turnover on the network owned by Russian Railways has increased by 2.5% since the beginning of 2019 and amounted to 16.2 billion passenger-kilometres. Suburban passenger turnover in January-February totalled 4.6 billion passenger-kilometres, an increase of 3.1%, while long distance passenger turnover was up to 11.6 billion pass-km, a rise of 2.2%.

Since the beginning of 2019, the Moscow Central Ring (MCR) has carried almost 21 million passengers, 14.1% more than during the same period last year.

Since it began operations, the Moscow Central Ring has been used by almost 288 million passengers. The record daily number of passengers travelling on the MCR since its opening on 10 September 2016 was recorded on 20 February 2019, when 523,740 people were transported.
