Making public transportation more efficient and attractive to current and future riders are daily operational challenges for many cities. To help transportation agencies tackle these challenges in real-time, Xerox today announced its Transit Matrix Solution, a computer-aided dispatch and automatic vehicle location (CAD/AVL) system. The solution provides current information, such as vehicle location, messaging and camera feeds, to help the agency make timely, informed decisions and ultimately improve the quality of service to riders.
The Transit Matrix Solution consolidates and simplifies vehicle operations allowing for more integration, expandability and connectivity with matrixed communications on the bus and across the system. The integrated on-board Vehicle Processor is a durable, high performance open platform designed specifically for the public transit industry. The use of industry standard modules allows for technological change—future-proofing the platform.
The companion Vehicle Console features a single-view 10.4-inch touchscreen that supports multiple windows, providing route and performance information, as well as security and backup cameras, turn-by-turn maps and fare box information. Dispatchers, supervisors and maintenance workers have instant access to this data to evaluate key performance indicators, ensure equipment is operating as intended, and buses are meeting published service schedules.
“Transit Matrix equips agencies with the flexibility and connectivity needed to effectively manage fleets in challenging environments and situations,” said Mark Talbot, group president of Local Government – Americas, Xerox. “This solution is unique in that it connects the entire agency with accurate, real-time data, empowering them to make fast and reliable decisions.”
The Transit Matrix Solution is available now in North America for implementation in fall 2016 and was on display at the 2016 APTA Bus & Paratransit Conference in Charlotte, N.C. (booth #502).
