Shell awards Worley contract to help create a green hydrogen factory

Worley has been been awarded an early engineering services contract by Shell to support the development of a new 200 megawatt electrolysis-based hydrogen plant. Once complete, the project will be one of the largest commercial green hydrogen production facilities in the world. The project directly supports Worley's purpose statement of delivering a more sustainable world. Shell’s Holland Hydrogen I project will be located on the Tweede Maasvlakte in the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands. A final investment decision will be made later this year.

Sustainable aviation fuel to partly power Heathrow jets as airport moves to reduce emissions

Working with Vitol Aviation and Neste, Heathrow has become the first UK major airport to successfully integrate sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) into its fuel distribution - Heathrow has successfully incorporated sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) into its operation, ahead of the G7 Summit. Working alongside Vitol Aviation and Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel™, the fuel will be incorporated into the airport's main fuel supply today, and blended to use across flights operating at Heathrow over the next few days.

Dubai: Endorsing pioneering plan emission-free public transport by 2050

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has endorsed a long-term plan to have zero emissions of public transport in Dubai by 2050. As such, it becomes the first government body in the MENA region to chart out such a comprehensive plan for public transport and related infrastructure. “RTA is making continued efforts to plan for sustainable and environmental-friendly public transport and integrate it as part of its strategic plans as reflected in its Strategic Goal: Safety and Environmental Sustainability.

US Transport Secretary: $2.5B for Public Transit Services Nationally

U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg announced the recommendation of $2.5 billion to advance the construction or completion of 25 rail, bus rapid transit (BRT) and streetcar projects in 12 states, as well as other projects that may become ready for funding in Fiscal Year (FY) 2022. These projects, competitively funded through the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Capital Investment Grants (CIG) Program, will create hundreds of construction and operations-related jobs and help communities expand transportation options that improve access and mobility for residents.

Siemens: Cooperation on use of LOHC tech in rail transport planned

Siemens Mobility and the Helmholtz Institute Erlangen-Nuremberg for Renewable Energy agree on joint research for the use of Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier (LOHC) technology in rail transport - The use of hydrogen technology in rail transport is becoming increasingly important as a solution for reducing CO2 emissions and helping to meet climate targets. In recent years, Siemens Mobility has developed a hydrogen-powered train, the Mireo Plus H. In this technology, hydrogen is tanked in gas form and must be kept under high pressure in order to achieve the required high density.

Its reliability depends to a large degree on the contact lines, which have to operate safely under all relevant climatic conditions, needing as little maintenance as possible.
