FlixBus in the Netherlands

FlixBus in the Netherlands

German bus company FlixBus began operating national intercity bus lines in the Netherlands on 3 December 2015. Currently the intercity buses make several trips per day between Groningen, Enschede, Rotterdam, Den Bosch, Nijmegen, Eindhoven, Hengelo, Apeldoorn and Haren. Various VDL Bus & Coach customers are associated with FlixBus as partners, and this is why we see more and more VDL coaches in the green FlixBus colour in the Dutch street scene.

Competition with the train

Travelling by FlixBus is almost as fast as travelling by train. The passenger travels very safely and comfortably thanks to the luxurious coaches, features of which include reading lights, power outlets and Wi-Fi. The price is a big plus-point; booking a ticket with FlixBus is often cheaper than a train ticket. FlixBus believes this will make travelling by bus more attractive, particularly for young people, and a good alternative for motorists on the routes concerned.

Partners

FlixBus do not have any buses of their own. The company partners with local bus companies that provide the buses. All the buses in service for FlixBus are branded with the company's recognizable green house style.
